Motorcycle Repair: ignition, rear cylinder, lead run

Question
Hi Mark,I have a 1987 virago 700 that suddenly lost spark to the front cylinder,I am getting power to the primary wiring. I am thinking the coil is bad because the rear cylinder is ok. I dont have a mulitimeter to check resistance . what do you think ...thanks Karl

Answer
Hi Karl,

Need a VOM....

All you can do is fiddle with the primary lead, plug cap, and spark plug. Look for loose cap or damaged lead. Run screwdriver along primary lead and look for arc to tool (bad wire). Try misting H2O along HT lead.

Get a cheap multimeter. :)
