Motorcycle Repair: breather kit/air filter, sportster 1200, stock filter

Question
Mike, I have a couple questions. I ride a 2002 sportster, 1200.I also have what I'm told is a common sportster problem of excessive oil in the breather. My plan is to install a horseshoe type breather kit to correct the problem. My question is, will that type of breather kit fit up with the stock breather. My second question is, what is a free flow air filter, are they more effient than the stock filter ,and would it work with the stock breather. I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions that you would give, thank Mike...bob

Answer
You didnt say which brand you were going to be using, but they will mostly all fit with the stock breather so you shouldnt have a problem.
On the free flow air filter. They are more open than the stock one which allows more air to flow to the carb. Carbs are pated on how much air they flow, not gas.The more open the air filter is the more air you flow, which means more fuel. SO to answer your question, yes they are more effient.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
