Motorcycle Repair: honda shadow ignition (VT 1100C ), stator windings, pulse generators

Question
Hi Bill, I've checked everything I know to check and have about come to the conclusion I must make a better battery connection than the clamps off my booster pack. Is there any test protocol for CDI Modules?  The spare stuff has one but it doesn't seem to make a difference.  I also found down in front of the rear tire between the swing arms a heat sink with the 3 wires from the pulse generators coming to it ( or so I concluded without a thorough check).   Any ideas? I've emailed for a wiring diagram just now; but knowing values (Pulse gen, etc)might also help. Pulse gen gives 3 inconsistant levels of voltage while cranking starter. primary feed voltage to coil drops way down on cranking.
Thanks,   Lon C.

Answer
Lon, I am getting out of my level of expertise on this new of a bike. Test procedures are available in the shop manuals from Honda...  www.helminc.com or your dealer.

You should get steady readings from the pulse generator and the stator windings... the three yellow wires.

Go to www.electrexusa.com for more info on the charging system issues.

There are some Honda Shadow websites out there who may be able to assist, too...
