Motorcycle Repair: 1987 cr 125, cr 125, powervalve

hello, hope you can help me, i dont know too much about motorcycle repair but i know my own fairly well i recently pull the cylinder off my bike just to have it refinished and put a new piston in, but now i notice exhaust powervalve, which conects to a litle centrifical switch has two settings on it, there is two possible grooves too which i can place a lever into im pretty sure that one of the grooves was put there by the previous owner so i have no idea as to how toassembe this thing should i assemble it with the power valve open or closed? sorry my question isnt very clear i not sure how to explain what im taling about but thank you for any concideration

Hi Wes.
 Do you have the repair manual for the bike?  If so, then it should show you how to set that or give you some idea as to where the original notch was (if it was an aftermarket mod).

Outside of that, I really am not sure how to advise you on that one.
