Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Xterra A/C, nissan xterra, c control

Question
On my way to work this morning I had turned the A/C control knob to de-frost mode.  When I arrived at work, I returned the knob to front vent control, however, the air continues to come from the defrost vents.  I tried turning to all other settings, but it remains to blow from defrost only.  What is my first step to fix this problem?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jeff -

Your diverter door is stuck. You will need to access the duct below the dashboard (center). Remove the vent register and you will be able to see the door inside that diverts the air to the defrost system. Work it loose and apply some grease to the seal.

Hope this helps -
