Nissan Repair: Left turn signal/brake light and headlight system., nissan sentra 2001, left turn signal

Question
Left turn signal/brake light/headlight system:
I just bought the Nissan sentra 2001 and When I turn on my left turn signal and it works fine until I press on the brake then the signal dims way down, the rear brake light flashes, and the signal indicator on the dash board flashed dimly.
It will getting worse when the head light are on.
I try to open my trunk slowly to be wider than suddenly the signal light come brightly.
It is only for the left turn signal, then right turn signal works great. Would you give me some advise how to fix it? I want to do it by myself. I have a multimeter and know how to deal with electrical. Please guide me, thank you so much.

Answer
Hi Sean -

It appears you have a ground fault. All these circuits pass through the rear light socket, so I would trace through (find the ground wire that attaches to the frame of the car) to find where you are losing ground.

The other area where all circuits pass through it the turn signal switch. Many times that loses continuity, however being that it makes a difference when you open the trunk, I would check the wires in there first.

Can you tell me what kind of bulbs you have? Is it a plug in, or do you have to twist it on?

Hope this helps -
