Nissan Repair: 98 maxima wont turn on, camshaft sensor, spark plug wire

Question
My 1998 automatic transmission maxima turned off when it was on drive gear, before i came to a almost complete stop it shut off on me when it was still on drive, it turned off at a very low speed, between 1mph to 3mph it turned back on and drove about one block, or less than a quarter mile and it turned off again on drive and would not start back up.I hear the engine just turning over but not cranking up.I replaced the camshaft sensor and it still didnt start up. Sounds like theres no spark.

Answer
Hi Suhall -

Try this test -

Pull out one spark plug wire and get a screwdriver and insert it in the boot until it wedges against the terminal inside. Then hold the shaft of the screwdriver about 1/4" away from any metal surface. Have a helper crank the engine as if to start it and see if there is a spark jumping between the 2 metal surfaces. Don't touch any metal surface while doing this test.

Let me know the results -

Is the check engine light on?

Hope this helps -
