Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan Pathfinder Transmission, automatic overdrive transmission, nissan pathfinder

Question
Hello,
I recently had a rebuild completed on the automatic/overdrive transmission(4WD) and all is find, except, Unfortunately, I am currently in a different state. The problem is that it will not go into overdrive at all. Also, along with this the TO overheat light stays on(dash). Everything I've researched points to the Fluid Temp Sensor? All well and good but cannot seem to find anywhere in books or online just where this sensor is located for either replacement, loose wire check.  Can you advise?

Answer
Don,

The temperature switch is in the transmission connected to the valve body.

I would first look at the vacuum switch that controls the shifting into overdrive.

Remember, the car has to be at operating temperature, no load, as in high vacuum and at a given speed (45-47 miles an hour) for the overdrive to engage and the lock up torque converter to apply.

If the light is on I would check the connection from the shifter to the transmission first.  Probable that the rebuild shop did not reconnect this at the transmission.
