Nissan Repair: 96 Quest air conditioner problem, heater hoses, courtesynissan

Tried to charge the a/c with freon and it blew the hose off the gauge due to too much pressure on the line. I was told there is an expansion valve that would need replaced but I don't know where the valve is. Where would I find this valve?

The car has an expansion valve that is in the air conditioner box under the passenger side of the dash.  You will have to remove the passenger side glove box with the evaporator in it.  That is where the expansion valve is.  That means you have to remove the heater hoses and the air conditioner lines to get the box out.  rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com are both good sources for the expansion valve.  Replace it and reassemble the box and reconnect the lines.  Then, vacuum the system and charge it.
