QUESTION: I purchased a new light switch from nissan and installed it. I still have the same problem. I also do not think the daytime running lights or the fog lights are working. The park lights do work.

Answer
Brian,

The ground to the headlight is good?  The car has not been in an accident on that side?  The headlight fuse for that side is good?  1987 USA car should not have daytime running lights?  The headlights are on a separate circuit from the parking lights.  Tear the old headlight switch down and you will see the difference.
