Nissan Repair: nissan murano, nissan murano, morano

A friend of mine has a Morano that is cutting out during accelerations and stops.  Not dieing just sort of stuttering.  Did he get bad gas or is it a fuel problem?  What is the problem?

Could be either fuel or electrical. What year is this Murano? When was the last tune up, and what did that include? Could also be the coils. When you say "cutting out" does the motor have a flat spot, or is it missing steadily?
