Nissan Repair: 350Z - automatic, oem computer, sidestreet

Question
I had a scary thing happen recently (1 wk ago) with my 350z (2003). The car completely stopped while I was driving, and I didn't even have brake power. Luckily, I was on a sidestreet, and when I restarted the engine, everything was fine. This threatened to happen while I was on the freeway today, but the car just kinda blipped and kept on going.

I thought at first it might be my tranmission, but I think it may be my OEM computer going bad. I have 80K miles on it, which is low mileage for a 2003, but it's still enough to make things like go bad. I have done regular oil changes and maintenence (fluids, cleanings, etc.), so I've taken good care of the car, but things still go wrong.

What do you think?

Answer
Laura,

I would perform a tuneup if you have not done so.  Also, I would get the codes scanned with a Consult II scan tool or Autoengunity software.  There are codes stored in memory that do not set the check engine light and either of these systems will show if any are stored.  The Consult II is Nissan only and can be done at the dealer for code reading and if you purchase the one below and have a laptop you can do it yourself.

I have a 2003 350Z personally.  The problem you had I did as well.  It tuned out to be a leaky set of injectors.  I do not want to steer you in that direction without knowing the codes.  A plug change will help the performance of the vehicle.
