Nissan Repair: 2000 Altima GXE 2.4, switch lock, lock cylinder

Question
When you replace the ignition switch lock cylinder, do you need to have it reprogrammed to work with the existing key? How does that work?  Thank You

Answer
Kim,

Yes, the key needs to be programmed.  Also, make sure you get the right key for your car.  The key has a color code associated with the car.  Check with the dealer or the locksmith.  If only the cylinder is replaced and the key is the same the computer should still read it.
