Nissan Repair: TIMING BELT, timing belt replacement, nissan maxima

Question
IM LOOKING AT A 1996 NISSAN MAXIMA MILEAGE 148,000 IS IT EXPENSIVE TO HAVE TIMING BELT CHANGED

Answer
Hi Michelle -

Timing belt replacement for that Maxima usually run about $200 or so, depending on where you are, and what you change when you replace the belt. Replacing the water pump, drive belts, hoses, etc. can add quite a bit to the bill.

With that mileage and if none of the above were replaced, I would recommend replacement if you are buying the car. Perhaps you can bargain down the price by mentioning the above work, I would say at least $600.

Hope this helps
