Nissan Repair: Brake and Transmission Failiure, nissan pulsar n16, press brakes

Question
Hi I have 2003 Nissan Pulsar N16 Ex type. Have not been using car that much for past few months except for the occasional switching on to keep it running and a few occasional turns round the block.

Yesterday, car switches on perfectly, but when press brakes the brakes depresses fully (no brake power) and the automatic gear shit does not permit me to shift gears! The auto lock does not work either. There is no brake oil spillage present on ground.

What could the fault be. Please advise ASAP.

Best Regards

Winsy

Answer
Winsey,

The master cylinder is probably blown and the seals are what is allowing the pedal to go to the floor.  I say this since you say there is no fluid on the ground and none at each wheel.  No leaks mean an internal failure.  The transmission should be serviced since it is probably low.  If you change the fluid and run the car through the gears and get fresh fluid in the valve body the transmission should come back to life.
