Nissan Repair: 1999 nissan frontier, clutch slave cylinder, nissan frontier

Question
Hi, I have a 1999 Nissan frontier 2.4 5-speed manual transmission it has a hard time going into first and second after coming to a stop and letting the clutch out if i stop and keep the clutch engaged it shifts into 1st and 2nd smoothly it only has a hard time shifting into first and second at a stop when the clutch is let out prior to stopping it also makes bearing noise in first and in second when down shifting with my foot of the accelerator any help or advice with this matter would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Anthony,

The shifting thing is probably the clutch slave cylinder.  The noise is most probably the input shaft bearing.  The transmission would have to be removed and the front taken off to gain access the front bearing.  The first problem would probably require the slave cylinder be replaced.  Bleed the clutch with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  It is DOT3 and has twice the boiling point of regular DOT3 fluid and gives a much firmer pedal feel.
