Nissan Repair: Automatic seat adjustment feature, infinity i30, plastic connector

Question
I own a 2000 infinity I30 sedan. I bought it new. One of the nice features of this auto was the automatic adjusting of the driver's seat to accomodate 2 differant drivers and a knob on the side of the seat to allow for any additional adjusting desired. This feature has stopped working while the seat was in the max reverse position. How do I go about determining the cure for this problem? I don't own any advanced electrical testing equipment.

Any help you can give me will be most appreciated.

Answer
Hi Clyde -

Although it is difficult without any electrical testing equipment, you can check a few things first.

Do you hear anything when you try to operate the switches on the side of the seat? If not, then try checking for a disconnection somewhere. Because you say it is in the max reverse position, perhaps the connection pulled off under the seat. Look under the seat and see if there are any wires disconnected that are going towards the seat. There should be a plastic connector that you can snap back together.

Other than that you will need at least a light tester, 12V probe type. You can get it at any auto store for about $10. If you want to get that, I can walk you through a diagnosis, but try the above first, and let me know -

Hope this helps -\
