Nissan Repair: 1995 Nissan Pathfinder ECM, oxygen sensors, nissan pathfinder

Question
QUESTION: My 1995 Nissan Pathfinder would start slowly then engine light came on and when I went to hit the gas nothing happend. The engine did not rev. Took it up to Advanced got a ECM code , took it to Nissan and they said they needed a hard hit on the ECM code to replace it. They reset the engine light and sent me on my way. Now less than a month later , went to start my car this morning it was slow to start hit the gas nothing. Turned the engine off did it again , did not start , tried a few times it started pushed gas pedal nothing happend. Finally after the 5th restart it started just fine and all was well ,went to soccer game and now starting fine but engine light back on. I don't want to take it back to Nissan for them to reset again. What could this be?

ANSWER: Nancy,

Go to Autozone or Checker and they will read the code for free.  Email me back with the code and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: The code is P0605

Answer
Nancy,

P0605 means the power train control module (Computer).  The computer needs to be reflashed or replaced.  Reflashing is the cheaper of the two.  You could reset the computer and see if it stays gone or start replacing components to see which is the offending sensor.  It is over ten years old and the usual suspects are oxygen sensors and then disconnect the battery to fully clear the computer.  If it were mine that is what I would do.  If this does not resolve the issue you could source a used computer or have the Nissan guys try to reflash the unit.
