Nissan Repair: Car Not moving, nissan largo, forward gear

Question
QUESTION: Hi
I have a nissan largo that has a perfect engine, can start up but cannot move forward. When car is lifted on a jack and accelerator padel pressed, wheel spins but when jack is removed and wheels on ground, car is unable to move forward.
Gear (Auto) is shifting okay on the lever but not sure in the transmission. I am not a mechanic and I cannot figure out exactly what is wrong. Please assist.

Regards
Bob

ANSWER: Hi Bobby -

Does the car move in reverse?

I suspect that you need a transmission overhaul. I am assuming, of course that the oil level is fine.

QUESTION: The car cannot move forward or reverse. I will have someone to check the transmission. Will it have the same effect when the oil level is low or if it is dirty or blocked.

Thanks
Bob

Answer
Hi Bob -

yes. If there is no flow of oil, then it does not move.

However the fact that it moves when the car is lifted tells me that the transmission is shot. Pull the dipstick and if the oil smells burnt, probably needs an overhaul.

Hope this helps -
