Nissan Repair: 2006 Pathfinder Exhaust sound, 2006 nissan pathfinder, nissan pathfinder

Question
When I turn on the engine of my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder or tap the gas when it is in park I hear a baffley gurgle or rumble in addition to the normal rev you would expect to hear... the dealer says this is NORMAL - doesn't seem normal to me.  It occurs AFTER the gas pedal is pressed not while its being pressed and it is a deeper sound than the engine noise and is noticed best when crouching at the exhaust tip/exit and someone else turns the engine over.  My 2001 Pathfinder never did this.  Could this be due to the fuel?  We both inspected the exhaust and didn't find any holes or loose connections and it is definitlely not heat shield related.

Answer
Dustin,

The new exhaust is not as sound proof as the old one.  They are increasing horsepower and to do so there is less restriction.  You could install a larger resonator to dampen the noise.  But, horsepower will be reduced as will mileage.  I would live with the noise and the increased power.
