Nissan Repair: Knock Sensor, bosch oxygen sensor, o2 sensors

Question
I understand what the knock sensor does. My question is, would the knock sensor cause the O2 sensors to fluctuate eradically? Both have been replaced recently and are now showing codes for both during a diagnostic. As well as the knock sensor of course. Also, is this a complicated repair?

Answer
Chris,

The knock sensor would not throw an oxygen sensor code.  The knock sensor is a pain to replace on a V6 Model since it is under the intake.  The oxygen sensor is an easy replacement.  I have found several Bosch oxygen sensor replacement parts to be initial defects that required replacement shortly after installation.  You could replace the oxygen sensor first and reset the codes and see if the knock sensor code stays off.  But, if you have the code there is probably a problem with the sensor.  Now, the knock sensor could throw the code if the timing is too far advanced.  You did not say if yours is a distributor model or not.  If it has a distributor there is a chance that the timing is too far advanced.  So, check the timing if you have one that has adjustments.
