Nissan Repair: 1989 Nissan Sentra timing marks, crankshaft pulley, nissan sentra

Question
I am trying to find out what the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley represent in degrees, there are about 6 notches with no indication as to the degrees. Just replaced timing chain and trying to set ignition timing correctly.  Manual I have says timing should be 7 degress BTDC, but I don't know which mark that is.

Answer
Hi Derek -

I am not sure which damper you have, however there are 2 types:

1. One where there is a white "T" on the pulley, and a yellow line. The White T is top dead, and the yellow would be the 7 degree mark.

2. If you have a damper with all white short lines, then the first line would be top dead, and the third line over would be 7 degrees.

Hope this helps -
