Nissan Repair: Smells Gas Inside Car When Heater Fan is on, nissan cars, smell of gas

Question
I started smelling gas when I start the engine on my 1995 Maxima. I took it to the Dealer and they found and tighten up a loose gas line injector. I stop smelling the gas inside the car. Then when the weather turned cold and to start the car on cold morning, I apply the gas a little to keep the engine from going dead , I can smell the gas outside the car. When I turn on the heater fan, the smell of gas comes inside the car. What do you think is the problem? For your information about a month before I smelled the gas I had an new alternator installed and about a month before that all six coils were replaced, an injection assembly installed and new sparkle plugs were installed.

Answer
Lynne,

If you are smelling gas with the heater on and you are not leaking on the ground then you have a loose or cracked fuel line or hose.  This is a pain since you have to check under the hood first and then get the car on a lift to inspect the lines all the way back to the gas tank.  I have found that many Nissan cars over ten years old have fuel lines that are degraded over the gas tank and you end up replacing sections of fuel line from the tank to the hard lines.  It is going to take someone with patience to inspect the car from front to rear.
