Nissan Repair: auto gears not changing, transmission shop, different computer

our 1996 pulsar cj11 has suddenly stopped changing gears.The auto still goes into drive,reverse 1 and 2 etc but it seems to be only in 1st gear so it still drives but then the revs shoot up without it changing.We have had no issues until now,the car has travelled about 127,000 km.

Nissan has a feature that locks the transmission is second gear when the computer senses a problem.  This keeps from trashing the transmission.  Take it to a transmission shop and have then read the computer code for the transmission.  This is a different computer than the one you get error codes from so it will have to be a speciality transmission shop or the dealer since most shops do not have this type of computer.
