Nissan Repair: 97 Sentra P0505 code, air control valve, poor mileage

Check engine light came on in 97 Sentra GXE; scanner reads our code P0505.  Also, gas mileage dropped drastically within the past month.  Could the code & poor mileage be caused by the IACV?  I so where is it located and how do I change it. Thanks much ~ Bill

Yes, the idle air control valve is probably in need of replacement.  It is located really close to the throttle body.  Purchase a new one and you will see what you are looking at.  Only two bolts and a plug and it is an easy replacement.  Disconnect the battery first to reset the computer.
