Nissan Repair: Nissan Pulsar Autech Hard to Start Engine, sr20de engine, nissan pulsar

Question
Hi Calvin,
My Nissan Pulsar with a SR20DE engine is having a hard time to start from cold.  I would need to turn the key a good 4-5 times before the engine will pick up and start.  Once the car has warmed up and I switch off and restart it immediately, the car will start fine without problems.
Please advice of any solutions you may have.  Thank You!

Answer
Hi Mervin -

You did not mention the year of your Pulsar, but it could be the cold start valve. To check this, when the engine is cold, spray soome starting fluid in the intake throat of the engine, and try to start it right away. If it starts immediately, then it is that cold start valve, or idle solenoid, depending on what year your vehicle is.

Hope this helps -
