Nissan Repair: Nissan Sunny 1993 1.6 Auto 116,000 miles, nissan sunny, clonk

I know this is an old gearbox but has been faultless up to now. It has developed a 'clonk' when changing from 1st gear to 2nd gear. All other shifts are perfect. I've just changed the fluid (Dextron II) and it is a bit better but I'd like to know if there was a diagnosis and any chance of an economical fix.  Many thanks, Des.

Hi Des -

In the past I have had tremendous results with a product called AT205, usually sold by Carquest. Even remedied a "non shift" situation with I car I was repairing. You should try that. Let me know if you cannot find it.

If all else fails, of course, it would be time for an overhaul.
