Nissan Repair: 86 nissan 200sx, fuse box, nissan 200sx

Question
I need to find out why my clock and radio are losing battery supply when the key is turned off. They always go back to defaults.(clock blinking 12:00 etc.)
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jim -

Somehow the pilot feed to your radio is getting cut off when the ignition is turned off. Was any work done recently (electrical?). First, check all your fuses, below the dash, and in the engine compartment.
Next, ensure that all the wires from your radio are connected. There should be one going to the fuse box, and this is the one I am concerned with. If you have a circuit tester, that wire coming from the fuse box should be hot (or read 12V). Sometimes there is even an in line fuse. Check that too.
If all is in place, then you need to replace your radio.

Hope this helps -
