Nissan Repair: tail lights / brake lights, nissan quest, trailer lights

i have a 96 nissan quest and i can not get the tail lights  or brake lights to come on. i have replaced the fuse as well as bulbs. what else can i do to restore them.

First, check to make sure no one has tapped into the harness for trailer lights.  If so, make sure the harness is not shorted.  This is the most common cause.  Second, if the harness is good then replace the headlight switch.  The switch contains manu contact points that feed power to the lights and the one for the back is probably toast after 11 years.
