Nissan Repair: A/C Compressor, haynes book, receiver dryer

Question
I have a 1992 2WD PU/4 cyl. When I bought it the ac compressor was taken off.It still has the lines/hoses. It's been that way ever since. Just trying to find out the easiest & cheapest way to fix.
I found a reman on EBay for around $100. Is this feasible and just have the system charged or are other parts like the drier also needing replaced?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Chuck,

Hopefully the hoses were taped over to keep dirt out.  If not the system will have to be flushed before you attempt to draw a vacuum and charge the system.  Also, you will need a reveiver dryer since the system was open as this is what keeps the refrigerant free of water and the dissicant sack is full from the surrounding air.  SO, flush the system and then replace the receiver dryer and compressor and then vacuum the system down and charge it to the specifications on the hood sticker.  Be sure you have refrigerant oil in the new compressor or you will trash it soon after you charge it.  You can get a Haynes book on airconditioners that give oil capacities on your particular vehicle for $20 bucks.
