Nissan Repair: Nissan Serena (engine), diesel fuel additive, fuel pressure regulator

Question
hi, my nissan serena, 2.0 diesel did not start (engine was turning) a few days ago but i jumped it and afterwards had a rough idling sound plus dark exhaust smoke. I took it out but it conked out afer 3miles and its not starting again. It turns tries to start but just goes off again.
can you advice on this issue. tanx D

Answer
Dele,

Black smoke means you have too much diesel getting into the engine.  I would postulate that the fuel pressure regulator is stuck or the injectors are sticking.  Check the fuel pressure and try a diesel fuel additive along with a change of the fuel filter.
