Nissan Repair: NISSAN ALTIMA MOTOR, import tuner magazine, nissan altima

Question
PRICE, AVAILABILITY AND WARRANTY OF COMPLETELY NEW, OR REBUILT REPLACEMENT MOTOR FOR 1994 NISSAN ALTIMA, GXE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION?

Answer
You should check on-line if you are wanting to get the engine and do it yourself.  If this is not the case you could go with what the dealer has.  Understand that the cheap cost an independent garage will charge you will be offset down the road when you have no warranty to speak of.  So, if an independent is going to do the installation you will need to get a motor with a warranty.  My guess would be about $1500 for the engine on-line, plus shipping and then the installation charge.  If you can get your hands on a Sport Compact Car or Import Tuner magazine you can check in the back for several companies that offer Japanese Domestic Market JDM engines that are used but have really low miles on them.  And, they are under warranty.  Check it out.  You see that the Japanese government has a really tough inspection policy and when a car gets rust they scrap the car.  Well, you end up with a lot of low mileage engines.
