Nissan Repair: nissan stops and runs, nissan sentra, timming belt

I have a 1985 nissan sentra. Here we go the car was running fine.until one it started stalling out. and when it stalls it is hard to start.so one day i had it running and the timming belt broke. so i put it in the shop had the timming belt replaced and also had the heads redone i also have a new cabrator on it it also has a new coil. new dist.i think i have replaced all the sensors. it is still in the shop and the mechaic can not find out what is wrong. he says the the car will start some days and the other days he says it will not start i told him that is the problem i have been having with it.also on the days it will run it will run for a while and then it will just die and it will not start back up till it cools off. also it has a new fuel pump and a new starter. iam at a loss
can you please help me.

Check the head gasket by doing a CO check on the antifreeze or have the machanic do it.  it sounds like you are getting water into the compression chamber.  If this is not it have the guy check the timing to see if it is too far advanced.  Lastly, check to make sure the temperature of the engine is not getting so hot as to vapor lock the carburetor.  Oh, you said you replaced the distributor.  Check this to see if oil is getting into the optical sensor as this will kill the car as you describe and once the oil runs off the sensor and pickup the car will start again.  You might have gotten a bad rebuild on the distributor.  On second thought check the distributor first...
