Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: need new belt, compressor clutch, buick regal

Question
Hi Van    I saw a question about the same problem i'm having and wanted to know if a new belt was found to be used to by pass the air compressor. My bearing is going out and scretching. Mine is a 1993 buick regal 3.8. I will put the question i saw and your answer below to refresh you memory. I wasn't able to get any help from the part houses.   Thanks Mike

Also is there anyway to contact Dutch?

Question
On a 1994 Buick Lesabre 3.8 Front wheel drive, the air conditioner in this car hasn't worked for years, now the clutch on the compressor is starting to hang up. The man doen't want to fix the air conditioning, but knows if the clutch locks, it will chew up his belt. My question is do you know what size belt I would have to get to bypass the air, without having to buy a kit?

Answer
Hi Dutch,
I would unhook the wire to the compressor clutch if it is trying to engage.
The clutch could actually be removed without removing the pulley.
Now, if it is the bearing in the clutch pulley that is trying to lock up, then your route might be the way to go.
Call a parts house and ask if they show that engine without air. Otherwise you will need to measure the distance, and try for a belt that way.

Answer
Hi Mike,
Sometimes people send a reply about weather the answer helped, but usually it is in the rating system. Also, the name used there might not show up as the same name.
if I had a date range when I answered that question, I could check that way, but so could you.
If I did have the date, I could probably go to the orriginal question, and post a followup answer, saying you would like to contact him, but I don't have any other way.
