Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: heater repair, olds cutlass supreme, air flow control

Question
i have recently replaced the heater core on my 88 olds cutlass supreme and i have not been able to get heat.i also replaced the thermostat, water pump, bypass hose and both radiator hoses but cannot get any heat.what do i need to do to check the water valve for opening and temperature control

Answer
Hi Larry,
Check both heater hoses, and if they both get hot, then the problem is an air flow control door.
If they don't both get hot, it is a coolant flow problem. Pull a hose, and see if coolant is flowing, even if you have to follow it all the way back to the engine.
