Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: driveability, damper pulley, vacuum line

Question
I asked this earlier and got a reasonable answer but possibly not the final one. our '94 olds 88 royale has been running roughly and with subdued power. we replaced plugs, cables, O2 sensor and fuel filter then found a failed damper pulley. replaced that and the c-shaft sensor pickup. We found a loose vacuum line and fixed that, and refueled several times adding gas cleaner products each time. it is still running poorly. could still be a really stubborn contamination, but we are losing hope that it is that simple. Thanks, Chuck

Answer
hi chuck.yes let,s forget about it being simple ,hardly ever is lol.a 3800 eng running bad is a prob as they rarely run bad.great engines.i guess we need to determine if it is missing or just not getting proper fuel.you will need a fuel pressure guage to determine the fuel pressure.there is a valve with a cap on the intake manafold to check this.you should have a constant 40 psi of fuel pressure lay the guage on windshield and drive see if pressure is same while driveing if so not a pressure prob.#2 was the vac line you repaired going to the transmission.is the check eng light on??? #3 take wires off coil pack one at a time while eng is running, watch for a rpm drop each cyl should lose rpms when wire is off. the one that don,t is not fireing.your prob is in this cylinder.if they all lose rpms when you remove a wire.not in the secondary ignition system.now with eng idleing unplug a injector should be drop in rpm do this one at a time to each injector again the one that don,t lower the rpm will be bad.try this stuff aND answer these questions and we will go further from there.when you remove the plug wires use insulated pliers or it will shock you.good luck billymac
