Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Montana SV6 Wiper Blades, pontiac montana sv6, pontiac montana

Question
I am having problems with the front driver side wiper blade making very loud scraping/rubbing noise when on. Have replaced the blade numerous times with different types - still have problem. I was wondering if the tension was to tight cause the blade to jump and not run smoothly. How do I adjust the tension?

Answer
Hi Tim:
you can't adjusted the tension you can how ever bend the arm with a small cresent wrench to make sure the blade sits squarely on the glass. Are you sure it't the blade making the noise and not from the wiper transmission? does the blade "skip across" the glass as it wipes? if so then it's an arm issue or the blade. cheap blades are just that! Trico makes a nice "exact fit" blade you may want to try one of them. one last thing about the arm if you live in the rust belt like I do you may want to give the pivot on the arm a squirt of wd40 and work the arm up and down to free up the pivot. the arm is made of aluminum where if attaches to the car and the arm is steel and the 2 together create corosion thus the penetrating oil. good luck :)
