Pontiac Repair: engine keeps cutting out, mass air flow sensor, crank shaft position sensor

Hello, I have a Pontiac grand prix daytona edition that keeps on sputtering,backfiring and rpms go down.  Its like the engine is cutting out.  Has been seen but they can't find the problem and just today the engine light came on.  Any help with this would greatly be appreciated

well first off I would stop by one of the bug box auto parts stores they can scan the car for you for free and codes that are stored would give a cluse as to what is going on. It's either fuel or spark related. that are a lot of things it could be from a bad Mass Air flow sensor to a bad crank shaft position sensor one has control for the fuel and the other for spark. I could guess all day long as to what the issue here could be but once you have more info EG: a code to go off it makes the job easier to figure out.  doe it ever stall out or does it just run bad? has the fuel filter been changed recently?
