Pontiac Repair: window motor running backward, 2007 pontiac g6, pontiac g6

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 GT convertible with the 3.9.  I replaced the drivers door (LH) window motor with a re-manufactured Cardone 42-10038.  Everything runs in reverse.  Up is down and down is up on the switch.  Window will not index when door is opened or closed.  Had window down when I put the top down and the window goes up while all others go down as usual.  I can switch the blue and brown wires in the plug to make the switch work right but that does not fix other issues (indexing and lowering for top).  Assumed I had a motor that was wired backwards.  Exchanged for another and condition still exists.  Someone suggested that since everything goes through the BCM that it must be hooked up to a TECH2 to reset.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

ANSWER: Hey Dan:

Ok first off CARDONE parts are the WORST every to buy aftermarket that aside. The window motor for a 2 door GT/coupe  are different then a 4 door sedan. So if they say they are all the same the are not: I included the text out of the service manual for window learn. You right about the BCM it does control the windows and this should fix it if you get the correct motor/regulator.

Power Window Reinitialization (Coupe/Convertible Only)
This feature automatically lowers the window a small amount when the door is opened. Then when the door is closed, the window will automatically raise. After a power reconnect, such as battery replacement, the indexing feature will not function until the system is initialized. This procedure needs to be done for each individual window.

Important: The folding top must be in the fully closed position before performing this procedure.

Once power is restored, do the following:

1.  Close the door for the window being reinitialized.

2.  Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

3.  Hold the window switch up for two seconds after the window is closed, release the switch, then hold the switch up again for two seconds.

4.  Lower the window all the way down and hold the switch down for two seconds.

5.  Repeat the procedure for each window, including the rear quarter windows on convertible models, until all windows are initialized.

Good luck :-)

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I know that there are different motors between the coupe/convertible and the sedan.  I have the correct motor.  I found the power window reinitialization in the owners manual and performed that as stated.  The fact remains that the window operates backwards.  What other brand of motor is available or that you would recommend?

Answer
I would use ONLY a factory part from a dealer. Any kind of electrical part stay away from after market. It's not just on a GM car on ANY car line. that are too nay variables to deal with in the aftermarket. the original equipment is the only way to go EXCEPT for the price :(. It sounds to me like where ever you got this part that the listing for the part incorrect and you may be getting the part for the other side of the car They look the same other then the motor. and the fact that it's working in reverse is why the window will not learn the indexing. The limit switch ckt in the motor is working incorrectly due to being the wrong one. Good luck :-)

Just an FYI ALL Cardone parts are horrible from power steering pumps and steering gears to wiper motors they are the worst pieces of garbage I have ever seen in the aftermarket.

I think I gave you a pretty good answer here and what to do to fix it. It seems your problem with the motor running back wards was after you replaced the part. pretty simple fix if it didn't do it before and now it does it after you replaced the part the part is the issue and nothing else. I think it deserved a better feedback and I also gave you a step by step to fix the indexing issue once you get the correct motor to fix the issue... This is a free service to you and I do it as a volunteer I don't get paid for this.....
