Pontiac Repair: alarm system, google search, car wont start

Question
the security system engages for no apparent reason and the car wont start and also does not trip a code to find a problem. Is there an easy fix or a bypass to solve this problem. local dealer ship says there is no real fix for this. it is an 04 grand am with a V-6.   thank you.

Answer
Hi Bill:

it is a common issue with these cars. Usually it's an issue with the ignition lock housing the senor fails in it. and needs to be replaced. the other thing that happens is the body control module gets water it it from the heater box assembly. it's uaully about 99% of the time the lock housing. And when it does fail it will set a code every time. As far as bypassing it it can be done I have never done it before It involves a resitor being tied in at the wiring that goes to the lock housing. try a "Google search" for it an I bet you will find what your looking for. good luck :-}
