Pontiac Repair: Pontiac trans sport van problem, torque converter clutch, pontiac trans sport

Question
I have a Pontiac Trans Sport van from 1990. It has been imported from the U.S. to Norway. My problem is. It starts well and run well for approx. 2 mil. Then he begins to chop a bit and show I should stop in a cross goes out. I might start it again in P. But when I switch to D, it goes out again. It is as if the pages stuck in the highest gear. The car is with automatic transmission. See there is something wrong with the gear, I can not understand that the run really well the first mil without problems. There is no (Service engine soon) as shown. But there is an orange light that lights just below the gas gauge and speedometert. Please help since I'm really happy with my Pontiac.

Answer
Hi there:

Will start with the easy thing first. the orange dot light is for low fuel warning. If the lamp is on and it's not low on fuel the insterment cluster is bad. That was a common issue back then with those. Now for the stalling issue The "chop" you state is it like a misfire and runs rough? no service engine soon lamp has come on?? when the van stalls out at a stop is it when it's comming to a stop and does it shake and shutter and stall out like a engine with a manual transmission would if you forgot to step on the clutch at a stop light. If so then there is an issue with the torque converter clutch in the tramission sticking on.
