can the type of fule used have any effect on the valves sticking open on the super charger?

No not really the only valve is a dump off valve and the fuel doesn't touch that. when the car is turned off an unburned vapor that is in the inatke manifold can seep back up into the super charger. so the answer is yes and no. More of an effect would be from the motor oil you use same thing ther are unburned oil vapors in the intake from the PCV system in the car. I would suggest you use a good quality motor oil like Catrol GTX (high milage) if the car has high milage or Valvoline oil. stay away from the Mobil 1 product on this engine you will have oil consumption problmes on top of what other issues you have ging on.
