Pontiac Repair: brake problem, brake switch, lamp work

Hi Todd,I have a 96 chevrolet sierra 1500 PU, the brake lights went out after I connected the tow harness to the trailer since then the brake lights don't work any more
the bulbs are ok, the fuses are ok (the one in the engine
compartment and the one inside the cab by the driver side door) I replaced the brake relay and the brake switch but that didn't help I checked all the 6 wires that go to the brake switch all are grounded accept the orange wire that has power I don't know how many wires that have power going to the brake switch ang I'm thinking about bypassing the wires to the brake switch if possible your help is appreciated, thank you

Hi there:

well does the Hi mount stop lamp work but not the lower lamps? If so if you take the trailer tow harness back off and hook the lamps back up the way they were from the factory do they work again? If so then possably the tow harness you got is the wrong one for the truck??
