Pontiac Repair: car overheating, head gasket, word of advice

i am thinking about buying a 1999 sunfire, but it is overheating the guy says it needs a thermostat i am worried it is the head gasket it heats up but there is no heat at all even after the car was running for about 20 mins ther doesnot seem to be any water circulating threw the hoses could u tell me how to know if it is the thermostat or head gasket thank you

stay a way from it! those cars were noted for head gasket failures. expensive repair especially if it overheated enough that it may have damaged the cylinder head.. Yes it may have needed a thermostat at one time and it may be the cause of the over heating or not. Juat a word of advice find another car stay away from this one.  Good luck :)
