Pontiac Repair: pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire, starter solenoid

Question
Hello thinks for reading, I seen some where in here that you put a starter in you sunfire and you had wires back wards so it keeped cranking till you dissconected the battery would you you please tell me how you fixed it I'm have same issue thinks.

Answer
Hey Joe:

you really can'r hook up a starter backwards. what can happen if if you replaced the starter and the "crank" wire at the starter which is purple if it is touching the battery cable as soon as the battery cable is attached it will contimue to crank. Or if the starter solenoid is bad on the starter it will continue to crank even with the key off.. You didn't stated did this happen out iof the blue or did you replace the starter and it's happening ever since that? the other possability is if this had the starter motor/ignition switch recall done on it the recall relay coulb be bad an keeping the starter in the "crank" mode. those are the only thinsg I can think of. Good luck :)
