Pontiac Repair: pontiac firebird windshield wipers, pontiac firebird, windshield wipers

Question
i have a 1989 Pontiac firebird. v6 2.8L fuel injected. i bought the car with the windshield wipers not working. i am trying to fix them, but i am very confused. i have tried to replace the motor, but it did not seem to help so now i assume the problem is electrical. i don't know where the switch is located or what it looks like nor do i have any information about the control module. do i need to just keep replacing parts until i find the problem or there a troubleshooting guide i can follow. the switches on the Internet don't look like anything on my car. pictures and or diagrams would be immensely helpful.

Answer
Hi Bob:

The motor is completly in-op or only works on one speed? I can't help you on service manual stuff either my on-line service info only goes back to 1998. Usually the motors don't go bad but being 20+ years old it could have had a bad motor.. usually the issue is with the delay module on the motor goes bad.. On some of the aftermarket motors they come with just a cover on the motor and there is not any electronics in the cover. It looks like it's complete but there is nothing in there.. That could be what happened?? The delay board "cover" is service seperatly. that may be your issue It' very unlikely the switch went bad but you never know.... Hope that helps you out some.. This cars was made before I even started in the business so I didn't have a lot of exposure to them back in the day. Good luck :)
