Pontiac Repair: 2000 Buick lesabre limited heated leather seat, 2000 buick lesabre, seat fabric

Question
Have a 2000 and a 2003 Buick lesabre limited, 3.8 engine, with heated leather seats. The drivers seat heaters no longer function. Dealer advises a bottom seat elemant(not the back) is approx. $300Cn, hence wondering if the assumed broken wire can be simply "jumpered". How difficult is it to access and repair by an adept DIYer?

Answer
Hey Gerry:

this was a very common issue with these cars. There is not a way to jump the broken heat element and the system work. the module sees the change is resitance when the heater is on so just jumping the bad element will not work. there is an updated seat heater package for this. the original one is sewen itno the seat fabric this one is attached to the seat foam by 2 sided thin film tape and it comes with new harnesses to attach them together and then to the heater module. The job really isn't all that bad to do once you get the seat covers of the foam you just cut the old wires off the old seat heaters and then you attach the new ones.. try calling down here in the states and see if you can get a seat heater package for your seating option on that car cheaper and do it your self.. it may be chaper then up in the great wite north???
I just looked up the bulletin It is # 01-08-50-12B and it lists this part # 25730800 for a lesabre (limited) for 2000-2005. Good luck :)
