Pontiac Repair: pontiac bonneville 1996 sse, vacuum line, pontiac bonneville

Question
ok i have a couple of problems with this car one is i cannot find the vac resiovor.  when i turn on the air and change the temp the air coming out does not change at all and only stays on the winshield vent it will not go to the floor or anything.  So i'm guessing that the air staying on the windshield is a vac leak but i have no idea where the resiovor is.  and the problem with the ac and heat staying the same temp i'm guessing is the temp door actuator which i know is behind the glove box but not sure how to get to it.  any insight would be verry helpfull ty for yout time.

Answer
Hi randy:

I will assume that this has auto "digital" cliamte control with it being a SEE??? If that is the cas the HVAC controls should be electronic controlled not vacuum same with the temp actuator. I depends on what option code the HVAC has in the car. it could have Vacuum again it depends on the option code for the HVAC.  You will need a scan tool to see what is going on with this. there may be some sore of a hard fault in the system that it will not allow temp or mode changes. when you turn it on does the temp setting flash on and off? On those older cars that was a sign that a code is set in the system. with out knowing what code(s) set I can't even begin to tell you where to start looking. The mode actuators are on the sides of the HVAC case the temp actuator is on top of the HVAC case and you have to take the inner glove box compartment out to gain access to that actuator. If this has vacuum aactuators the main vacuum line goes into the HVAC "programmer" that is also behind the glove box and the main input to the programmer is a purple colored hose you can pull the vacum coupler off if equipped with the engine running ti should have vacuum on that hose. If not then on some of those older unit ther was a vacuum "T" that would break off it supples vacuum to the Cruise as well as the HVAC system. Follow the vacuum routing sticker under the hood to find that line it's on the emissions sticker. Good luck :)
