Pontiac Repair: 1999 grand am transmission, vacuum line, google search

Question
Hi, I just installed a different transmission in my Pontiac and just got it finished and it shifts hard into drive from neutral. I did not get to take it on a road test yet. The transmission I put in was from a 2000 alero. They were both a 3.4 liter. What could be the problem, Is there a vacuum line on the tranny?

Answer
Hey Chad:

No ther is no vacuum line. the transmission is electronically controlled. a few things to check make sure the fluid is topped off properly ther is a big proceedure for this due to the fact the transmission has no dip stick. try a google search for this. If you didn't already disconnect the battery and touch the battery cables together this will clear out all the trasnmission shift memory from the old transmission. reconnect it and try it again. You have all the engine and transmission mount back on and tight? you could have a mount that is weak/ripped and that could bause the harsh engaugement. Other then that notthing simple to check if it shifts hard that tranmsission you installed could have an issue with it.
Good luck :)
