Hi there,my 97 sunfire 2.2 automatic, boggs down at nearly 4000rpm.(it doesnt reach 4500rpm). i've change the catalytic converter but didnt solve the problem i hope that you can shed light on this matter before winter arrives, thank you very much!!

well Next step would be to check the fuel pressure on this engine. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced? For some reason the engine is n ot breathing right. It needs enough fule pressure and volume to sustain higer engein speeds. check the fuel pressue at both idle and at high speeds the pressure shuld increase sligtly with the higher engine speed. If you dump the throttle rapidly the pressure should jump up maybe 4-5 PSI over what it is at idle. If not you could have a bad pump/restricted fliter or even a bad pressure regulator. Good luck :)
